about
This song is a reaction to 2020 and all that went with it. I wrote it when I heard so many people wanting 2020 to be over. I understand the sentiment, but the calendar changing over to 2021 is not going to change the huge divisions in our country and communities. We, individually, have to change things in ourselves and in our relationships for anything bigger to happen.
lyrics
It starting slow, like a novocaine shot
We’ll just feel a pinch, then our nerves will be blocked
As the medicine flows, the feelings will go
First there was fear followed by isolation
Civil unrest and the streets were undone
They cried “unity,” but that’s not what I see
Here the truth is projected through the lights from our screens
And our bias infected, pushing us the way that we lean
Win at all costs, bring one home for the good team
Raise the stakes to the sky, ‘til there’s no longer meaning
As the Hatfields destroy what’s left of the McCoys
Here the truth is projected through the lights from our screens
And our bias infected, pushing us the way that we lean
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind
That new calendar can’t change our fate nor the passing of the time
Let the past stir our hearts but not be our master
Let the future remain, it won’t come any faster
Live here and now, let’s figure out how
Here the truth is perfected as we turn from our screens
Our foundation protected, as we come together to sing
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind
That new calendar can’t change our fate nor the passing of the time
For time gone by we wail and mourn, for time gone by we cry
Let’s pour out our cups of bitterness with the present in our eyes
Let’s pour out our cups of bitterness with the present in our eyes

This one is near and dear to our hearts. We spent most of 2010 creating 8 original holiday songs under the band name "Herod the Fink." Energetic and heartfelt, it has become a holiday staple for many. Tiny Boats
An amazing album by a fellow Utah band which was hugely influential on our own record. These highly talented folks created a great sounding 'hip' record which is also lyrically powerful. Tiny Boats
